Les Misérables - The Story
Les Misérables is an epic story, moving from the eve of the battle of Waterloo to the July Revolution of 1830.
Set in the Parisian underworld during the period of the French Restoration (1815-1830). 'Jean Valjean' is released from prison after serving nineteen years for little more than stealing a loaf of bread. Valjean is determined to put his criminal past behind him, despite the yellow ticket of leave he must wear by law, marking him as a criminal. Then, when another man is arrested in his place, Jean Valjean must decide whether or not he should speak up and condemn his own freedom.
